Husband still baffled as to why wife killed daughter before taking her own life

SERI KEMBANGAN: Chang Fook Hwa, 45, still has fond memories of his wife, who took her life on Tuesday and that of their five-year-old daughter.
So strong is his love for Tan Lee Ying, 35, he hoped they would be a couple again should they be reincarnated some day.
If and until that comes to pass, Chang plans to stay on at their matrimonial home. "I have no plans to move out and will be living here as there are so many good memories I cherish."

When met at Serdang Hospital mortuary yesterday, he said he was still puzzled as to why his wife had thrown their daughter off the fifth floor and then jumped off the 10th floor of the same apartment block.
"I knew she was suffering from depression even before we got married. While we were dating, she had told me she suffered from a mental illness and was on medication," said a teary Chang, who works in a shoe factory in Serdang.
"When my daughter, Man Leng, was born, she was so happy to be a mother and spent most of her time with our baby. She took good care of her; we didn't even have a maid. Man Leng was closer to her mother than me.

This are post depression syndrome of a typical type. However, this form of psychological problem is a growing threat, especially amongst young people in any developing country. Many tragic event, likes the murder of own grandfather, own siblings, own father and mother which happen lately is much contributed to this form mental problem. The inability to accept rapid change within his or her surrounding environment, especially in today's life style, and inability in keeping on going with the "Jones" so with peers. And at time due to the state of economy, being jobless, social issue then with strong resistance to change. This mental  opposition, an attempt to bring repressed thoughts or feelings into consciousness thus the inability to except life reality.
Normally, a long continuous treatment, counseling which requires time and  financial commitment which again most of this victim not able to come up with. Most often than not, they are left alone to suffer and not knowing when those mental depression will take over reasonable mind, either taking their own life or ran "amuk". However, religion and some form of meditation is always the best way out, even to all of us.Knowing life existence, the why,where and when.
