Malaysia has squandered an estimated RM100 billion on financial scandals under the 22-year rule of Dr Mahathir Mohamad, according to a book about the former prime minister.

According to Barry Wain, author of the ‘Malaysian Maverick: Mahathir Mohamad in Turbulent Times’, direct financial losses amounted to about RM50 billion.

On the official front Datuk Seri Najib Razak is facing down the allegations made against 1MDB, Malaysia’s strategic investment fund, accountable to the Finance Minister cum PM.

Here the major culprit is the British based Sarawak Report claiming to have all manner of documented evidence but yet will not surrender it to someone who has the locus standi, like DAP’s Tony Pua, to make a police report and kick start a forensic investigation, thus ending the witch hunt.

Which Malaysian is not relishing the thought of, at least, hoisting the notorious Low Taek Jho, or more popularly known as Jho Low, by his petards if the allegations against him are true?

PETALING JAYA: MIC treasurer-general S Vell Paari today described Mokhzani Mahathir as “arrogant” for saying the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) was nothing to shout about and that Malaysians could only be proud when they were rich.

Calling on Mokhzani to apologise to all BR1M recipients “as they do not deserve to be disrespected and ridiculed”, he said it also showed that Mokhzani had lost touch with the common people.

Mahathir’s directive to the MACC was clear.

Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor was due to be arrested by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) today on counts of having committed offences under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, Anti-Terrorism Financing Act and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (Amla) 2001.

However, following a ‘special’ directive delivered by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Rosmah will not be arrested and is now due to be produced by the anti-graft agency to the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on the 4^th of October 2018.

According to a person from camp Mahathir, it is the Prime Minister’s intent to deliver the impression that Rosmah and Najib conspired to siphon billions from 1MDB.
